Steven Spielberg helped me to write my book.

Steven Spielberg helped me to write a book.

I like to credit Steven Spielberg with helping me to get my book over the line. Yes the Steven Spielberg.

Now let me be totally honest. Steven Spielberg wouldn’t know me from Adam. He has no idea that he helped me to write a book. But he did, and in a big way. Back in 2016 when I was writing my book Founded After 40, Spielberg was filming Ready Player One in the UK. My son was part of the visual effects crew.

Spielberg likes an early start which meant my son leaving home by 6.00 am. not a time familiar to 21 year olds, especially at the start of the day. Being the supportive mum that I am I got up every day to ensure my son was up and out of the house on time. As soon as I got his message that he had arrived safely I sat down to write. That gave me two hours of dedicated writing time before my regular day started.

Dedicated writing time is just one of the things you’ll need to get your book over the line.

Your network can help.

I had lots of other help to get my book published. I signed up for a partnership publishing deal which gave me a coach, copy editors, designers, proof readers and PR. I also had people in my network who shared their stories with my readers and others who were my test readers. They may not have been as famous as Steven Spielberg but they were every bit as helpful.

Publishing a book can be a very rewarding experience. It is especially useful if you want to write on a topic of your expertise and use it to establish your credibility. But it can be a lonely activity. That’s where having a support team can help.

Join the Book Writing challenge.

Fabulous Networking offers you that support team through our Book Writing Challenge. The five day challenge will help you to scope out your book and develop an action plan to get it done. Each day you’ll get an early morning email with the challenge for the day. There’ll be a couple of Zoom calls during the week so you can ask questions and gain support from other participants. At the end of the challenge we’ll invite you to join our Authors’ Group.

This is a mutual help group where members support and challenge each other and share knowledge to get those books published. If accountability is what you need it is available here.

So far members have published two books and two short guides and I’ve lost count of the number of books they have contributed chapters to, probably at least four. One more member will publish her book in January and at least one more is in final editing. Others are nearing completion whilst more are still in development.

We’ve worked on books on travel, connections, writing, redundancy, presentation skills, nutrition, a murder mystery and more. Whatever your topic there’s support for you in the group. We can be your test readers and we give honest and constructive feedback with kindness.

From time to time we can bring in experts on topics of interest to the group.

This is a free service from Fabulous Networking, all we ask is that you contribute and help other members of the group. Whilst I can’t promise you Steven Spielberg I can promise real help and support to turn your dream into reality.

Book your place on the challenge here.

This isn’t business networking in the traditional sense but it is a great way to get to know people better and to live our support, collaboration and inspirational values. We’d love you to join us.
