Working Lunch: Contingency Planning

Recently a friend shared a story of a client she was about to start working with suddenly going quiet and not responding to emails. Three months later she learned that the client had passed away suddenly. It had taken her husband three months to be able to access her emails and business information in order to get in touch with her clients and associates. A very sad tale and one which could happen to any of us.
Whilst this is an extreme case we can find ourselves suddenly incapacitated as I know from personal experience. What would happen to your business if you couldn’t run it for a few weeks or longer?

Are your systems documented? Could your family, or emergency help, access your emails, your bank accounts, your client records? What would happen if you had a fire or flood?
