In 2011 a new community
Paulette Schwartz launched Fabulous Women in 2011 to inspire, motivate and inform women in life and business. She coined the term netwinning to distinguish Fabulous Women from traditional sales focused business networking organisations.
By September 2012 there were around a dozen groups holding regular netwinning meetings. These included Esher/Oxshott, Kingston. Woking, Guildford and Ealing which are all still thriving, three of them with their original leadership.
Expanding our network
Life took a different direction for Paulette and she handed the community over to Jane Hardy in early 2014. Jane changed the name to Fabulous Women and Marvellous Men to reflect the involvement and contribution of men to the community.
Working with Head of Marketing, Glenda Shawley and a team of supportive Area and Group Leaders Jane grew the community to more than 25 groups before family commitments meant that she needed to step aside. Step in Glenda.
A new leadership
Glenda Shawley took the business over on January 1st 2019 shortly after it had been renamed Fabulous Networking and has big plans for it. The emphasis is on growing the community and extending beyond our current base in Surrey, Hampshire, and London.
We understand that many people find networking daunting, even scary. Our aim is to provide a safe and supportive community where even the most reluctant networker can be comfortable and have fun.
Now branded ‘The collaborative business community’ the values of inspiration, motivation and learning are still at our core. Our focus is on growing relationships in the firm belief that these lead to personal and business growth. Why not visit a meeting to sample the Fabulous Networking difference?
Meet Glenda. Managing Director
Glenda describes her career to date as preparation for her role as MD of Fabulous Networking. Her early career was in Personnel Management in Marks and Spencer where nine moves in 10 years taught her management skills and the importance of building relationships quickly.
Following the birth of her first child in 1991 Glenda started her own business, The Training Pack, where she swiftly learned the value of networking. Most of her work came from referral and repeat business. An early contract led to a lifelong interest in marketing and ultimately her role as Head of Marketing with Fabulous Networking. Glenda is now a certified practitioner with Watertight Marketing and is qualified to teach adults. She loves getting out and about to meetings to meet, and learn from, our wonderfully diverse members.
